Carabinieri operation in Pozzallo yields one arrest and two denunciations
A coordinated Carabinieri sweep in the Sicilian coastal town produced one arrest on a drug conviction, two reports to prosecutors and 17 vehicles checked, according to local accounts.

Carabinieri in the Sicilian coastal town of Pozzallo have arrested one man and reported two others to the judicial authorities, in a coordinated operation ordered by the provincial command in Ragusa and directed at arms legislation and breaches of the highway code. The activity, carried out by the Compagnia di Modica, covered the town and concentrated on the zones most frequented during the evening "movida", according to Quotidiano di Ragusa and Ragusa H24.
The arrested man is a 41-year-old resident of Pozzallo, according to Radio RTM. Carabinieri of the local station traced him and executed a prison order issued by the Procura Generale della Repubblica presso la Corte d'Appello di Catania, which the reporting describes as rendering definitive convictions for several drug offences committed between 2021 and 2024. He was associated with the Ragusa prison and must serve a residual sentence of two years and one month, plus a fine of 20,800 euros.
The two reported individuals were not detained. According to Radio RTM, one is a Tunisian citizen resident in Pozzallo, found walking in the street carrying a knife with a blade measuring seven centimetres. The other, in the same account, is a 19-year-old resident of Pozzallo seriously suspected of driving his car without a licence, his licence having been revoked within two years and no valid driving title being held. Corriere di Ragusa characterises the same conduct as driving without a licence for the second time in two years; the supplied excerpt of that article ends mid-sentence, so the two descriptions cannot be fully reconciled here. Both men were reported to the authorities in Ragusa.
Other figures reported across the accounts are 17 vehicles checked, 20 people identified, three sanctions issued for highway-code violations and two vehicles seized. Quotidiano di Ragusa and Ragusa H24 name the units involved as the Carabinieri of the Pozzallo station, the Nucleo Operativo e Radiomobile of the Compagnia di Modica and the Carabinieri of the Ispica station. Quotidiano di Ragusa places the deployment "in recent days"; 3 October 2026, the date carried by the outlets, is a reporting date rather than an operation date.
