Modica's October Calendar Ties Book Season, Vintage Fair and Literary Prize
Four separate cultural initiatives in and around Modica — a literary café season, a book series, a vintage fair and a literary prize — fall across October 2026, with two sharing the weekend of 17–18 October.

The XXII cultural season of Modica's Caffè Letterario Quasimodo opens on Saturday 3 October 2026 at 17.30 in the Sala della Società Operaia di Mutuo Soccorso on Corso Umberto. According to Radio RTM, the inaugural event will present the new album by Maestro Lino Gatto, "Alhambra Evocación – Viaggio nella tradizione chitarristica spagnola", in dialogue with Professor Salvo Sequenzia, described as a semiologist, literary and music critic. The album explores classical Iberian guitar traditions, the report said.
The following day, Sunday 4 October at 17, Mondadori BookStore Modica launches a series titled "A viva voce; i libri narrati dal vivo" at its premises on Corso Umberto 123, according to Quotidiano di Ragusa. This precedes a two-day programme on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October celebrating the bookshop's 25 years in Modica. The bookseller, Piera Ficili, said she wanted to give "tanti momenti letterari" to the city that welcomed her 25 years ago, adding that themes would differ but books would be their common denominator and would be presented in the coming days.
Also on 17–18 October, the first Fiera del Vintage is to be held at the historic Green Club sports centre in Contrada Rocciola Torre Cannata, Modica, under the direction of Davide Ferranti and Orazio Galota. According to Radio RTM, exhibitors will offer vinyl records, model collecting, ceramics, clothing, car accessories and spare parts for vintage cars and motorcycles. The consulted excerpt of the Radio RTM report was truncated and did not include the fair's opening hours.
Separately, the artistic and cultural direction of Agorà Stupor Mundi has been entrusted to Massimiliano Casto, Radio RTM reported. The association, presided over by Corrado Armeri and based at Cava d'Ispica on the outskirts of Modica, is to revive its "Venerdì Letterari – Premio Agorà" from Friday 30 October. The report described Casto as a professional with proven experience and deep knowledge of the territory's cultural scene.
The earliest scheduled initiative is the Quasimodo opening on 3 October; the last listed start date is 30 October. Further programme details for the Modica bookshop's anniversary weekend are to be announced in the coming days, according to Ficili. Several source articles were truncated in the consulted material, leaving some logistics and background details unverified.
