UICI Ragusa Offers Free Eye Examinations for World Sight Day on 8 October

The Ragusa territorial section of the Unione Italiana dei Ciechi e degli Ipovedenti is to mark World Sight Day, scheduled for Thursday 8 October, by offering free eye examinations to the public and holding a conference devoted to the prevention of ocular pathologies. Access to the examinations requires booking, which opens on Monday 5 October and closes on Wednesday 7 October, between 15:00 and 17:00.

The section states that the purpose is to draw attention to the importance of early diagnosis and the protection of visual health. According to the notices, bookings may be made by contacting the section or by going there in person.

The day itself is promoted by the Fondazione Iapb Italia Ets, with the support of the UICI and under the Alto Patronato of the Presidency of the Italian Republic — a national framework in which the Ragusa section is participating. Local reports in Ragusa dated the initiative to 3 October 2026.

Both the conference and the free examinations take place on Thursday 8 October; anyone wanting an examination must book during the 5–7 October window.
