Car leaves SP16 in Vittoria; local accounts disagree on number injured

A car left the road in Vittoria on the evening before reports published on 4 October 2026, on the Strada Provinciale 16, known locally as the stradale Alcerito, which runs in the direction of the coastal strip. Ragusa Oggi reports that a man at the wheel of his own Citroën C2 lost control and that the vehicle went off the road, in what it describes as an autonomous accident in which one person was injured, not seriously. Quotidiano di Ragusa, reporting the same road and the same evening, says two people were travelling in the white Citroën C2 and that both were injured.

Both accounts state that no other vehicle was involved, and that rescuers and officers of the Polizia Locale of Vittoria attended the scene. Quotidiano di Ragusa reports that the car sustained significant damage to its bodywork, most heavily at the rear tailgate, and that after the surveys were completed the Polizia Locale placed the vehicle in judicial custody with the ACI, which removed it by tow truck.

The two accounts disagree on the number of casualties, and no official toll appears in either. According to Quotidiano di Ragusa, the local police command ordered alcohol tests on the driver, whose result had not been released at the time of publication; the same account says the conditions of the injured were not communicated and that the dynamics of the crash remain to be clarified. That last assessment is reported by the outlet and is not attributed to a police statement.

What is confirmed is narrow: a single-vehicle crash in Vittoria on the SP16, attended by local police and rescuers, in which a white Citroën C2 was badly damaged and taken into judicial custody. The injured are counted as one by Ragusa Oggi and as two by Quotidiano di Ragusa. The supplied texts of both reports are incomplete, ending mid-sentence and mid-word respectively, so their closing passages could not be checked against the claims above.
