Two injured in single-vehicle crash on SP 16 in Vittoria, police investigate

Two people were injured in a single-vehicle road accident on the SP 16, in the municipal territory of Vittoria in the province of Ragusa, according to local reports. The car involved, a white Citroën C2, suffered substantial damage to its bodywork, notably to the rear tailgate. Both occupants, described in the reports as non-EU citizens, were hurt. Radio RTM dates the incident to the evening of 3 October.

Emergency crews and officers of the Vittoria municipal police attended the scene. Radio RTM reports that medical personnel provided first aid and that the municipal police's road-accident section carried out the surveys needed to reconstruct the dynamics of the crash. La Sicilia states that the municipal police command ordered breathalyser tests on the driver, and the available Radio RTM text — which is truncated at that point — also refers to the breathalyser order. Neither report gives the result of those tests.

Local reports state that the car was placed in judicial custody with the ACI and removed by tow truck. The two accounts differ in emphasis rather than in substance on who was aboard: La Sicilia's headline refers to two migrant citizens at the wheel, while its body text says two non-EU citizens were travelling in the vehicle. Radio RTM's headline refers instead to two injured people and a seized car.

The exact circumstances of the accident have not been established in the material available; Radio RTM says the police surveys were intended to reconstruct the dynamics. Neither report names those involved, refers to any charges, or states the outcome of the breathalyser tests. On the evidence published so far, the inquiry remains open.
